Guide
How Ciripi works
Everything you need to know about range filtering, posting, writing blogs, events, voting, commenting, notifications, and building community on Ciripi.
How range filtering works
Set your location
In Settings → Location, tap "Detect my location" or enter a city manually. Ciripi stores only a lat/lon coordinate — never your street address.
Choose a radius
Slide the range selector to the distance you want: 1 km, 5 km, 25 km, 100 km. Your feed updates instantly.
Switch to country mode
Prefer country-level filtering without sharing coordinates? Tap "Use country" and select your country. All posts, blogs, and events from that country appear regardless of city.
Change it anytime
Your range is not permanent. Broaden it when you're looking for more content, or narrow it to focus on your immediate neighbourhood.
Creating and sharing posts
Tap the + button
The floating "+" button on the feed opens the post composer. You can add text, attach an image or video, and choose a group.
Add a title (optional)
Titles help posts stand out in the feed and improve discoverability. They're optional but recommended for longer content.
Select a group
Every post belongs to a community group. This helps people filter content by interest (e.g. "Local News", "Food & Drink", "Sports").
Your location is attached automatically
Posts inherit your current location setting. A post created in "Within 10 km" mode will appear in the feeds of users whose range covers your coordinates.
Events and meetups
Discover local events
The Events tab shows upcoming meetups, gatherings, and activities filtered by your chosen range or country. Browse by distance and find what's happening near you.
RSVP with one tap
Tap "Participating" to confirm your attendance or "Maybe" if you're unsure. The event creator is notified when someone joins. You can change your status at any time.
Event chat room
Every event has a dedicated group chat. Join the chat to coordinate with other attendees, ask questions, and share updates — all in one place.
Event posts feed
Organisers and participants can post updates, photos, and announcements directly on the event page. Stay up to date even after you RSVP.
Create your own event
Tap "+ Create Event" and add a title, description, date and time, and a location. Set visibility by distance or country. You become the event admin and can add co-admins.
Voting on posts
Upvote content you value
Tap the ▲ arrow to upvote a post. Upvotes raise the post's score, making it more visible to others and rewarding the author with karma points.
Downvote low-quality content
Tap ▼ to downvote. Downvoted posts score lower and are ranked further down in feeds. This is the community's self-moderation tool.
One vote per post
You can switch your vote at any time, but only one vote per post per user is counted. You cannot vote on your own posts.
Writing long-form blogs
Open the blog editor
Tap "Write" from the Blogs tab to open the block-based editor. Give your blog a title, then build the body from individual content blocks.
Add content blocks
Tap "+ Add block" to insert a Text paragraph, a Heading, a single Image, a photo Gallery, or an embedded Video. Reorder or remove blocks at any time.
Upload a photo gallery
The Gallery block lets you upload multiple photos at once. Readers can swipe through them and tap any photo to open a full-screen lightbox view.
Save as draft or publish
Hit "Save Draft" to keep working later, or "Publish" to make your blog visible to everyone in your range. Published blogs appear on the Blogs tab and your profile.
Groups and communities
Browse and join groups
Visit the Groups tab to discover communities organised around topics, cities, and interests. Join any group to filter your feed by it.
Filter by group
Once you've joined groups, chips appear at the top of your feed. Tap one to filter posts to just that community.
Create your own group
From the Groups page, tap "+ Create". Give it a name, description, and icon. You become the admin and can manage membership and approve join requests.
Notifications
Stay informed in real time
Ciripi sends you a notification whenever someone likes or comments on your post or blog, mentions you, follows you, or joins your event.
Event updates
Get notified when an event you joined is rescheduled, when someone posts in an event you're attending, or when a new participant joins your event.
Group and blog activity
Receive alerts when your group join request is approved or rejected, and when someone interacts with your published blogs.
Mark all as read
Open the Notifications tab and tap "Mark all read" to clear your unread badge in one go.
Following and profiles
Follow other users
Tap "Follow" on any profile to follow that user. Their posts and blogs will be highlighted in your feed. You can unfollow at any time.
Your profile page
Your profile shows your posts, blogs, follower count, and following count. Tap any tab to browse your published content.
See who follows you
Your followers list is visible on your profile. When someone follows you, you receive a notification.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ciripi share my exact location with other users?
No. Other users never see your coordinates. They only see the country label you choose to display on your profile, if any.
Can I use Ciripi without sharing my location?
Yes. Without a location, you access the global feed which shows all posts unfiltered by geography.
Can I have multiple location ranges saved?
Currently one active range at a time. You can change it as often as you like.
What happens if a post or event is created far outside my range?
It simply won't appear in your feed. But you can still access it directly via a shared link or via the Explore page.
How do I join an event chat?
Open any event page and tap "Join Chat". Once you're a chat member you can send messages and see everyone's updates.
Is Ciripi available as a mobile app?
Ciripi is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On iOS: open in Safari, tap the share icon, and select "Add to Home Screen". On Android: tap "Install App" in Chrome's menu.
